Safe ipod Listening for Kids

March 12, 2011 Stephanie Sigal M.A. CCC-SLP

Please help protect your child from noise-induced hearing loss by teaching three basic principles:

1. Keep the volume down on the ipod or mp3. Encourage half volume.

2. Limit listening time.

3. Model good listening habits.

Learn how to watch for warning signs of hearing loss.

Help your child prevent hearing loss, which is not reversible.

Even mild hearing loss can affect a child’s ability to pay attention in the classroom, speech and language skills, social interaction, and behavior.

Help your child to learn good listening habits!
